Q&A

Commonly asked questions

No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and similar global consumer protection laws, OEMs cannot void your equipment warranty simply because you use a third-party transceiver. Your equipment warranty remains intact.

Yes. Our QSFP28 modules can be coded for major OEM platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Nvidia, etc.) and support open networking environments including SONiC.

A compatible generic version can be provided and coded before delivery.

Common types include SR4 (MMF, short reach), PSM4 (parallel SMF), CWDM4 (SMF up to ~2km), LR4 (SMF up to ~10km), and extended reach options like ER4. Each is designed for different distances and fiber types.

Choose based on distance and fiber: SR4 for short-range multimode (data center), CWDM4 for cost-effective singlemode up to ~2km, and LR4 for longer distances up to ~10km.

Yes. Our modules are coded for the specific platform you select at purchase. They are recognized natively by the switch OS without any additional configuration or commands.

No. Our transceivers meet the same IEEE and MSA specifications as OEM modules. They deliver identical optical performance, data rates, and reach characteristics.

Connectivity examples

Deployment scenarios for this module. The following image shows a PON network before and after implementing the ONT-in-a-stick SFP+, vs using traditional ONU/ONT.

After

Spotlight: The 10G Gaming Edge

The Problem: A gamer upgrades to a 3G or 10G fiber plan, but the ISP’s standard ONT adds latency and limits the router to basic settings. Bulky external boxes and extra power bricks also clutter the setup.

The Solution: XGS-PON in a Stick By using an SFP+ ONT Stick (like the EN-XGSFPP-OMAC-V2), the homeowner bypasses the ISP hardware entirely.

  • Elite Speed: Direct 3G throughput with the lowest possible ping for competitive gaming.

  • Plug-and-Play: Slots directly into a high-end router—no extra cables or "middleman" hardware.

  • Clean & Future-Proof: Eliminates clutter and makes future network upgrades as simple as swapping a module.

The Result: True 10G performance, zero-lag gaming, and a professional, minimalist home network.

Applications

Deployment scenarios for this module

Residential & MDU Broadband

Service providers can deploy fiber directly into customer routers with SFP+ ports, eliminating the traditional external ONT.

Mobile Backhaul & Small Cells

The compact XGS-PON ONT in SFP+ format is ideal for mobile network edge deployments where space and power are limited.

Enterprise Fiber Access

Enterprises can integrate PON connectivity directly into existing network infrastructure such as switches, routers, or firewalls.
