Tofino-based forwarding
Built for high-throughput white-box systems using programmable Barefoot Tofino silicon.
A network operating system for open, programmable match-action pipelines across high-performance forwarding platforms.
The NoviWare™ Network Operating System is NoviFlow’s high-performance implementation of SDN. Its open, programmable match-action pipelines are optimized for switching chipsets including the Mellanox NP-4 and NP-5 and Barefoot’s 6.5 Tbps Tofino chip.
NoviWare is architected as a reliable, scalable platform for OpenFlow, gRPC, and P4Runtime. It implements OpenFlow 1.3, 1.4, and 1.5 and provides an upgrade path to the next generation of PISA-based SDN applications and solutions.
It is designed for switches, WAN IP/MPLS routers, network appliances, and other high-bandwidth forwarding planes. NoviWare has been deployed around the world in NoviSwitch™ products, is licensed to OEM and ODM platform suppliers, runs on production Mellanox NP-5 and Barefoot Tofino equipment, and supports x86 network application development and testing.
Open standards reduce vendor lock-in and allow operators to select best-of-breed network components. Supported control environments include P4Runtime, ONOS, OpenDaylight, NEC PFC, Faucet, RYU, OpenKilda, NoviFlow CyberMapper, and customer-proprietary controllers.
OpenFlow, OpenConfig, gRPC, and P4 provide open paths into a network operating system built for programmable forwarding planes.

NoviWare supports programmable switch silicon for multi-terabit throughput and network processors for deep flow scale and traffic management.
Built for high-throughput white-box systems using programmable Barefoot Tofino silicon.
Designed for large flow tables, multiple port configurations, and advanced network-processor capabilities.
FlowShaper is an optional NoviWare add-on that brings traffic management and hierarchical quality of service to a compact 1U system. It uses network-processor capabilities found in chassis-based edge routers to deliver QoS-based services at a fraction of the cost of conventional solutions.
Use extensive OpenFlow match fields, including user-defined fields in packet payloads.
Track up to one million meters with Drop and DSCP Remark policies compliant with RFC 2697 srTCM and RFC 2698 / MEF 5 trTCM.
Use 16 queues per class across as many as 46,000 classes and 736,000 queues.
Apply priority and rate limits through four hierarchy levels with 1 GB of deep buffer memory, WRED, WFQ, and strict-priority scheduling.
NoviFlow applications translate readable configuration and API calls into rules for P4-compatible network silicon. Operators can define port groupings, manage streams through the pipeline, and introduce protocol support through the programmable parser at software-development speed.
Open standards keep the control layer from becoming another vertically integrated silo. NoviWare works with established controllers, NoviFlow software, and customer-specific control systems.
